During the Euforic/EADI case study workshop ‘Showcasing Knowledge and Information Services’ Richard Lalleman talked about the Focuss.Initiative. Focuss.info is a collaborative platform of peers in the field of global development who are storing and sharing regional, national and international knowledge of valuable electronic resources. The portal provides a place to store and share knowledge by indexing social bookmarking websites.
The added value of the search engine provided by focuss.info is that it offers resources which are usually not available on normal search engines like google.
Mr. Lalleman called on development staff to start social bookmarking their resources and to join the foccuss.initiative to make the platform even more valuable.
The Focuss.info initiative selected Euforic as partner of the month Novermber 2007.
According to the initiative "the continuous flow of added websites to the Focuss.info Initiative through their del.icio.us account that increases the quality of the search engine, but also the option they [Euforic]give use to promote the Focuss.info initiative during the ‘European Development Days’ Conference in Lisbon has made them partner of the month November 2007."
Focuss.info provides a high quality search engine for practitioners, researchers and students in the area of global development studies. Other than generic search engines, like Google and Yahoo, focuss.info indexes a specific choice of electronic resources, selected by librarians, researchers and practitioners working in participating institutions. The resources are selected based on their relevance for the development studies and the quality of the information.

Initiated by ISS with collaborators like Euforic and some of its members, Focuss.eu is a high quality search engine for practitioners, researchers and students in the area of global development studies.
Online since June 2006, the added value of Focuss is the 'human' element it builds upon. Resources indexed in Focuss are selected by librarians, researchers and practitioners, thus assuring that every search will give more 'focused' results.
The Focuss team is also looking for individuals and institutions to help improve the service. This can be done by joining Focuss, promoting its use inside organisations and networks, and, most important, by contributing resources and suggestions to the search engine. Such a collective effort will help us produce a more valuable service for colleagues and peers working to make development knowledge and information m ore accessible.
