Tobias Eigen on Web2 for Development

Reflecting on the first day of the Web2forDev conference, Tobian Eigen from Kabissa shares his thoughts.

Tobias suggests that web2 tools open enormous opportunities for the African continent. Nevertheless, once again it is "incredible how things have being duplicated and how different organisations working on exactly the same issues do not know each other, and they are surprised when they meet in occasions like this."

It is therefore essential to develop technologies that connect people through on line communities. Open standards and open source software, such as Drupal, could facilitate these developments and the set up of on line networks.

Other elements that gave Tobias "heart palpitations" is the news about Facebook being bought by Microsoft. This is "tremendously discouraging news."
