CIDSE recruits a communication and campaign officer

CIDSE, created in 1967, is a network of 16 Catholic development organisations in Europe and North America. CIDSE members share a common strategy on advocacy work and development cooperation. The network’s main goal is to promote human development and global justice.

The CIDSE Secretariat, located in Brussels, is currently looking for a fulltime Communication and Campaign Officer to join its team in January 2009

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To coordinate CIDSE’s external communication
  • Develop, maintain and monitor CIDSE communication tools (CIDSE website, annual report,
    newsletter, etc)
  • Coordinate layout and publication of reports
  • Develop media strategies in cooperation with advocacy staff and working groups
  • Making targeted media work: identify and foster press contacts, draft press releases
  • Handle media inquiries and support CIDSE staff and representatives in their communication with media
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies and tools for the network
    Member of CIDSE’s campaign team (current focus “Climate Justice”):
  • Provide support to campaign related meetings and events
  • Cooperate closely with CIDSE staff involved in the campaign (officers and assistants)
  • Develop campaign tools

Your profile:

  • Relevant education / university degree
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, web-writing, cultural awareness
  • Excellent written and spoken English and fluent French; other languages are an advantage
  • Experience in internal / external communication, media work and campaigning
  • Ability to identify the network’s internal and external communication’s needs, opportunities and priorities
  • Good team work skills and ability to work in a network and multi-cultural NGO environment
  • Good multi-tasker with result-oriented organisational, planning and communication skills
  • Innovative, strategic and analytic skills
  • Strong interest and understanding of development policies and the NGO community
  • Knowledge of political decision-making processes and policies relevant to development NGOs
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission and values of CIDSE
  • An encouraging and service delivery professional attitude
  • Advanced computer skills incl. web editing and graphic software
  • Ability to travel, mainly within Europe, occasionally to other continents

  • a gross salary in the range of Euro 2800-3000 per month, plus End of Year Allocation (13th month salary) and holiday allowance (95% month salary).   • 21 vacation days / year + extra legal holidays
